The debate over AI-generated images has certainly divided some of the digital art community in terms of for, against, or adamantly against. To some AI is either a great new tool or no big deal while to others it is a life-altering event that is viewed as a threat to their future in terms of earning power and prestige. Both are important but not the only driving factors of the AI divide. Like a lot of things in the real world... it's just not that simple. Art is defined by a textbook to some and by the heart to others. Just as the Luddites feared the new-fangled textile machinery some digital artists and writers are wanting to put the genie back in the bottle and we all know how that will go.
As a person raised in a home of fine art with artistic parents I can understand the frustration and fear induced by AI images. Not being skilled as a fine artist I took up digital art when Paint Deluxe came out and it felt like a cheat compared to what I would see my parents do in watercolors and oils. They couldn't undo quite as easily and there was always a point of no return for them but they embraced my use of digital art. It was all artistic expression to them as long as I didn't take credit for something I just cut and pasted but even those lines got blurred as time went on and people created new art from skillful copy and paste with other tools.
Before you read on, if you are not familiar with ChatGPT, you need to keep in mind that it is not a human-type conversation or writing but a tool trained on writing as Midjourney is trained on artwork. It can also get things wrong. The prompts were prepared to lead to a conclusion but the writing could be hard to spot as AI generated for some readers. As AI images improve the line will blur there as well.

AI Images Are Artistic Fraud and Detrimental to Digital Art
Artificial intelligence (AI) generated images have recently gained attention as a new form of digital art. While these images can be visually striking and impressive, some argue that they are an artistic fraud and detrimental to the field of digital art.
One argument against AI-generated images is that they lack the creativity and originality that is integral to traditional art. Many AI-generated images are created using algorithms that can analyze and replicate the styles and techniques of other artists. While this may produce visually pleasing results, it does not require the artist to come up with their own unique ideas or to put their own personal touch on the piece. As a result, some argue that AI-generated art lacks the authenticity and individuality that is fundamental to true art.
Another concern is that AI-generated images may undermine the skills and hard work of traditional artists. With the advancement of AI technology, it is becoming increasingly easy for anyone to create digital art without having to undergo the training and practice that traditional artists do. This could potentially devalue the efforts and talent of human artists, and make it more difficult for them to succeed in the digital art industry.
In addition, there are concerns that AI-generated art could eventually lead to the replacement of human artists altogether. As AI technology continues to improve, it is possible that AI-generated art could surpass the quality and creativity of human-made art. This could potentially lead to the demise of the traditional art industry and the loss of jobs for human artists.
Overall, while AI-generated images may be visually appealing, there are valid concerns about their authenticity as art and their potential impact on the digital art industry. It is important to consider these issues as the use of AI in art continues to grow and evolve.

AI Art Is Genuine Artistic Expression
Artificial intelligence (AI) has made tremendous strides in the field of digital art in recent years. With the help of machine learning algorithms, AI is able to generate images that are not only visually stunning, but also showcase a level of creativity and originality that rivals that of human artists.
One of the main benefits of AI-generated images is their ability to create unique and original compositions that would be difficult, if not impossible, for a human artist to achieve. This is because AI algorithms are able to analyze and synthesize vast amounts of data to create novel combinations of shapes, colors, and patterns that are not constrained by the limitations of the human mind.
AI-generated images also have the potential to revolutionize the way we think about digital art and its place in the art world. In the past, digital art was often seen as less genuine or authentic than traditional art forms such as painting or sculpture. However, with the advent of AI, digital art is beginning to be recognized as a valid and legitimate form of artistic expression.
In addition to their creative potential, AI-generated images can also serve as a great tool for advancing the field of digital art. For example, AI algorithms can be used to create new and innovative techniques for generating images, or to help artists explore new styles and techniques that would be difficult to achieve manually.
Overall, it is clear that AI-generated images are not only beautiful and original, but also have the potential to be a valuable tool for advancing the field of digital art. As AI technology continues to improve and evolve, we can expect to see even more stunning and innovative AI-generated images in the future.
