Renderosity Magazine Weekly Art Challenge - Week 26

Aug 24, 2022 at 12:30 am by nickcharles

Welcome to Week 26 of the Renderosity Magazine Weekly Art Challenge! The aim of this challenge is to get everyone creating, regardless of tools or methods.

This week's challenge is patterns!

For this week we will focus on patterns. It's perfectly fine if you find an interesting pattern to photograph, but you may want to challenge yourself by creating a pattern of your own. Patterns can be created in the software of your choice. There are tons of tutorials available on creating patterns, should you need help.

Hope you enjoy this week's challenge. And, if you have any suggestions for future challenges, please let me know!

If you wish your work to be featured, contact me at nickcharles@renderosity.com, and be sure to include "Renderosity Magazine Weekly Art Challenge" in the subject line. All I ask is that for your work to be featured, it does not contain nudity, or otherwise could be deemed offensive.

Last week's challenge theme was 'selective color'. Here are some submissions:

This piece was submitted by Dochtersions on Renderosity.

"It's an Apophysis fractal, and I like how it came out with only the red colour. I used Lunapic with this experiment."

Be sure to check out Dochtersion's Renderosity gallery, here.

This piece is from kareldg on Renderosity.

This piece was submitted by artdreamer on Renderosity.

"This creation was made in Poser, and I used a sort of filter in the lighting, a black and white striped drawing, which fell over the woman like a shadow. The further editing I did in a very old version of Photoshop."

This piece, "Gate Along the Humber River Trail in Selective Colour," was submitted by APlusDesign.

"With selective colour most pictures I see with this effect make the photo black and white and have the colours pop out from that. Playing around in Photoshop, I decided I liked it better where it looked more like a photo negative with colours popping out. I also changed it to have more Fall like colours."

This is a photo I'd taken of my daughter a year ago. I used Affinity Photo to make the adjustments for this challenge.

I hope you enjoyed this challenge and you continue to follow up weekly. And, please, spread the word! You do not need to be a member of Renderosity to participate, and you do not need to submit your work if you do not wish to. This is a work in progress and the format may change as it grows.

Thank you, and have a creative week ahead!

The Renderosity Magazine Weekly Art Challenge appears every Wednesday, in which I provide a prompt of sorts, whether a theme, word, or idea. There are no strict guidelines, and any tools or methods are acceptable. You can use any software you wish, or use traditional means. There are no limits to where the prompt might lead you.

Each succesive week, I will talk about the previous week's challenge, show what I came up with, as well as the work of other participants, and provide the theme/idea for the next challenge.

There are no prizes for this weekly challenge at this time. This is just to get us all doing something creative, no matter the tools or methods.
