Renderosity Magazine Weekly Art Challenge - Week 5

Mar 30, 2022 at 12:00 am by nickcharles

Welcome to Week 5 of the Renderosity Magazine Weekly Art Challenge! The aim of this challenge is to get everyone creating, regardless of tools or methods.

This week's theme is "Virus"

I use a random word generator each week to get the theme, in case you might be wondering. I generate a group of 5 words and pick the most interesting. If you've never used a word generator, I highly recommend doing so. There are plenty word generator apps and even online word generators. I like to use them for inspiration, especially having used them for songwriting. Anyway, considering the pandemic, it was fitting when this word came up.

Any tools or methods are acceptable for this challenge, and any depiction of "virus" you could imagine. This should prove interesting. See where it leads you.

If you wish your work to be featured, contact me at nickcharles@renderosity.com, and be sure to include "Renderosity Magazine Weekly Art Challenge" in the subject line. All I ask is that for your work to be featured, it does not contain nudity, or otherwise could be deemed offensive.

Last week's challenge theme was 'Love.' Here are a couple submissions:

This piece, Protoceratops Family Love, was submitted by APlusDesign.

"A Protoceratops mother looking over her child as they sleep, keeping an eye out for danger in the dark night."

Be sure to check out the rest of APlusDesign's Renderosity gallery here.

This piece, "Love," was submitted by artdreamer on Renderosity.

"The creation is made in Poser. The hand is a free object from Abstractpack. I made the background once in Photoshop."

Be sure to check out artdreamer's Renderosity gallery, here.

This piece was my own, and again created in the fractal program, Apophysis. I occasionally delve back into fractals, and seems I've been drawn much more into them lately.

I hope you enjoyed this challenge and you continue to follow up weekly. Holding a weekly challenge was something I've been wanting to do for a long time, not only as a fun feature for visitors to the magazine, but for myself as well. I love seeing what others come up with when faced with a challenge, and I am one that works best with deadlines. It keeps me doing something creative each week outside of my regular work...and it's fun!

If you enjoy this weekly challenge, please spread the word. You do not need to be a member of Renderosity to participate, and you do not need to submit your work if you do not wish to. This is a work in progress and the format may change as it grows.

Thank you, and have a creative week ahead!

The Renderosity Magazine Weekly Art Challenge appears every Wednesday, in which I provide a prompt of sorts, whether a theme, word, or idea. There are no strict guidelines, and any tools or methods are acceptable. You can use any software you wish, or use traditional means. There are no limits to where the prompt might lead you.

Each succesive week, I will talk about the previous week's challenge, show what I came up with, as well as the work of other participants, and provide the theme/idea for the next challenge.

There are no prizes for this weekly challenge at this time. This is just to get us all doing something creative, no matter the tools or methods.
