Renderosity Magazine Weekly Art Challenge - Week 3

Welcome to Week 3 of the Renderosity Magazine Weekly Art Challenge! The aim of this challenge is to get everyone creating, regardless of tools or methods. This is a work in progress and the format may change as it grows.

This week's theme is "Angular"

This should be a fun one with infinite possibilities. Again, any tools or methods are acceptable. 

If you wish your work to be featured, contact me at, and be sure to include "Renderosity Magazine Weekly Art Challenge" in the subject line. All I ask is that for your work to be featured, it does not contain nudity, or otherwise could be deemed offensive.

Last week's challenge theme was 'Possession.' Here are a couple submissions:

This piece was submitted by APlusDesign. "Made using Daz 3D Studio with post effects in FlamePainter. Cats have been often associated with magic and I wanted to feature that."

This photo piece was submitted by artdreamer on Renderosity. She explains, "This is Jacky a picture of my doll which I got from a friend when I was 6 years old. When I was about 8 years old I made clothes and other things for him. I've owned it for 72 years now, yes really!  Jacky is about 10 cm high. The photo has been further edited with: LooksBuilderSE and Perfect Effects4."

This piece was my own, and created in the fractal program, Apophysis. I've always loved fractal art and I usually end up playing around in Apophysis now and again.

I was originally trying for something along the lines of an entity overtaking someone. I started doing something in Affinity Designer, but wasn't happy with it. I switched over to Apophysis, generating some random ideas until I found something that I could work into a 'cage' of sorts, as the prompt lead me in a different way. Eventually I ended up with something that felt more supernatural to me, and perhaps better than my original vision.

The point of these challenges is simply to get people creating. If the prompt ultimately leads you somewhere far from the theme, that is perfectly ok.

I hope you enjoyed this challenge and you continue to follow up weekly. Holding a weekly challenge was something I've been wanting to do for a long time, not only as a fun feature for visitors to the magazine, but for myself as well. I love seeing what others come up with when faced with a challenge, and I am one that works best with deadlines. It keeps me doing something creative each week outside of my regular work...and it's fun!

If you enjoy this weekly challenge, please spread the word. You do not need to be a member of Renderosity to participate, and you do not need to submit your work if you do not wish to. As stated previously, the format may change and I may need to start a separate area for submissions if it grows as I believe it will.

The Renderosity Magazine Weekly Art Challenge appears every Wednesday, in which I provide a prompt of sorts, whether a theme, word, or idea. There are no strict guidelines, and any tools or methods are acceptable. You can use any software you wish, or use traditional means. There are no limits to where the prompt might lead you. 

Each succesive week, I will talk about the previous week's challenge, show what I came up with, as well as the work of other participants, and provide the theme/idea for the next challenge.

There are no prizes for this weekly challenge at this time. This is just to get us all doing something creative, no matter the tools or methods.
