Artist of the Week - KIM

Kim is a virtual photographer who uses Second Life as her source for subjects. She has a fascinating combination of romantic and gritty realism as her style. Whether she's photographing women in desolate/romantic environments or depicting male/female relationships, Kim always has an original take on a scene. The framing and angle are often striking. There are themes of power, death, sex, and the poetry of landscape in her all of her photographs.
When I contacted Kim for permission to use her unique photos, she shared this about her work:
I started taking pictures in SL about 1 year ago. I haven't watched any videos, nor read any blogs about taking pictures in SL. Sometimes I think I should have done it, but I'm one of those people who throws the instruction guide to the side and tries it first. Probably that's why my stream is so chaotic*laughs*but it is and should be a hobby.
My pictures don't have to be perfect, they should simply reflect or capture moments. in the beginning i just shot pictures, without any great editing. with time you develop your own tics, so lately i work a lot with layers for example.i choose a suitable windlight in secondlife, an angle -which is still the most difficult for me- to create a light effect or shadows and then i rework it to add layers or a lightleak. sometimes I use poses but often my pictures come out of a moment and I personally think those are the most beautiful ones.

Anyway, I like it so much that I want to start photographing outside of SL, but when I think that the first 10,000 are for the trash bin, I lack some motivation.
I hope that this article/video brings more viewers to her Flickr page and perhaps gives her motivation to take more photographs. Kim is too good to be held back by self doubt.
