Since the beta release of Epic's MetaHuman Creator (a method to create realistic 3D characters), there has been a big rush to play with this remarkable creative tool. So much so that Epic is restricting access to the tool (it's cloud-based) to one-hour increments. In all my years of reporting on computer graphics, I have never seen or heard of such a restriction.
But after spending time looking at what others are doing with the MetaHuman beta, I think I understand what the fuss is about. This application enables someone with little 3D modeling experience to create a fully realized, realistic 3D human for use in a game or 3D program. There are other programs that do this, but I don't think any of them do it as well as MetaHumans. And this is only the beta version!
I've chosen an introductory video from Travis David's YouTube channel because he does such a good job covering the application, but he also has a great attitude about the application's potential. He's got many other excellent videos on his channel that I recommend as well.
