Terragen is a unique software for creating realistic natural environments: landscapes, bodies of water, planets, etc. Possibilities are endless - you can create incredible new worlds, with complete control over terrain, water, atmosphere and clouds, and even import OBJ models and instance them for distribution in your scene.
Terragen has been used extensively in many feature films, including Star Wars The Last Jedi, and in TV as well, including the Game of Thrones series. Special projects, like Paramount Pictures' 100th Anniversary logo animation is an incredible showcase of the power of Terragen, as it was used throughout the full sequence for the terrain, clouds, atmosphere and lighting:
It's been many years since I worked with Terragen, but I was amazed at the realism in even the early versions of the software, especially in regards to atmosphere creation. It truly has come a long way in terms of the level of control you have with it, and version 4.2 looks incredible.
The 4.2 maintenance release brings faster terrain rendering, UI improvements, a new terrain export option, and other improvements and bug fixes. Read the full change log here.
Note from Planetside: The 4.2 update is free to all users who have current Maintenance. If your Maintenance has expired you’ll need to renew it in order to access 4.2 and future updates. To check your Maintenance status, you can use the Check for Updates feature in the Terragen About/Application menu, or login to your account on our website. Maintenance lasts for one year from your original purchase, and then must be renewed annually to maintain access to updates. If your last renewal was more than 1 year ago, you’ll need to renew to access 4.2.
Terragen is available in 3 versions: Free (with limitations), Creative ($349), and Professional ($699). Check out the product comparison page, here to see which version is right for you.
