Magnetar Calypso by SIGMAWORLD

From the artists profile:

Hello, my right name is Heinz. I live in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Thanks for visiting and to everyone who has kindly commented on my images or added my works as a favourite.

SIGMAWORLD is an artist who specializes in creating imaginative environments and scenes. His preference is for fantasy/science fiction scenes, but he also has a great gift for flowers and foliage. What is so striking about his work, aside from it's technical brilliance, is the mood. All of the scenes feel lived in and have just the right combination of texture and lighting to make them strikingly real.

Any number of artworks from SIGMAWORLD's gallery could have been chosen, but Magnetar Calypso (a great title) stood out for me. There is a great sense of mystery in the scene and the scale (huge electrical/elemental phenomenon against the small station on the ice. Is it a god? Is it a machine? The scene provokes questions and implies a story beyond the scene it depicts. This is what the best digital art does - it suggestions a story.

Please take a moment to visit SIGMAWORLD's gallery at It's filled with wonderful images of great poetic power.
