Can you say you've heard of Renderosity member RavynGyrl? If so, what do you know about her? If not, now is your chance to get to know her.
It all started way back in 2006 when I purchased my first version of Poser (version 6, for those curious). I happened upon Renderosity while searching for 3d content. I think I started uploading to the gallery before purchasing anything. But then I got hooked, and the rest is history.
Ten years ago, I was a dabbler in digital art, although some form of art has always played a role in my life. I would play a little here and there, learning the programs. Today, that art takes a nice comfortable spot at number two in my life after my family. In these years of learning and growing artistically, I see things in everyday life that I've never noticed before. The play of shadows, the way the light bounces, the way clothing and hair move. My whole way of thinking and viewing life has evolved. And I'm much busier artistically now than ever before.
I have always been a bookworm, I would read fantasy novels to escape the mundane everyday life. With art, I love that I can create my own characters and worlds, and visually see them. I can escape into my art, just like I can in books.
Hobbyist or professional, that's always a question an artist ponders. I would say I started out as a hobbyist, just creating for myself and the love of creating. It was leisurely and not an everyday occurrence. Today, I would venture to say, I fall more onto the professional side of the scale. I create almost every day, although over the holidays I've taken a bit of a hiatus. I've created promotional art since 2008, and still do. I've had a few pieces of my work shown and sold in a Las Vegas gallery. In 2015, I added a number of commissions to my repertoire. I still create because I love it, but it's also become my primary trade, not just something I do for leisure.
Art is life is art.
Everything in life, including life itself is an art. The meaning or art to me, is life. Without being able to create, I wouldn't be able to live happily. From the time I could pick up a crayon, I was creating. I've tried different forms of art, from drawing to writing, from playing an instrument to singing to acting, from web page design to 3d art. I feel most at home when creating 3d art, as it resonates something deeper within me than any of the other forms have done.
Art has always been my passion because it's something that lives and breathes within me. It's something that has always been part of who I am.
