Chatting with Renderosity vendors such as Sander Osephius (2nd_World) makes my job fun! I love learning how they fell in love with art and what lend them to joining our site. This is a way I get to know the artist personally and understand how they think and feel about art. So, I bring you the back-story of how 2nd_World found Renderosity.
What brought you to Renderosity?
The way I joined Renderosity was when I discovered the world of 3D. It was in 2010 when I came across some 3D art made with Poser, and that was when I became interested.
I loved my first Poser version from the first moment, but I wanted to be able to create custom scenes.
I started to build some simple 3D models for my scenes like a wall or a table, but it didn't take long before the models became more complex.
One year and a lot of modeling later, I felt the quality of my models had became high enough, and this is when I started selling as Vendor 2nd World. My first models aren't available anymore but they looked quite nice if I may say so myself.
How has art changed your life?
It changed my life indeed, it's my job nowadays. Three years ago when I still had my job as a salesman, I decided to reduce my working hours and took an extra day off for 3D modeling. This was a good choice, no... the best choice I've made in years!! The conditions at my job became worse, strict and stressful. This was confirmed one year ago when 250 people-- including me-- lost their job due to reorganization. It's very sad for all the colleagues that lost their job, but for me it couldn't have come at a better time. Finally I have the job I really like, being creative, building the things I like and playing around.
What is it about art that you love?
I love the fact that you're able to create something from scratch; what starts as an idea becomes reality along the way, although it's virtual.
Would you consider yourself more of a hobbyist?
Well it's definitely my hobby, but I love the fact it has become my job.
What does art mean to you?
Art is very important for me, I love creating things and every bit of the process. When I was young I loved to draw and build stuff with Technic Lego, which I think is quite comparable with building 3D models, and I always loved to do creative things.
I'm also busy with photography for a long time now, and I did a study in professional photography.
How did you become so passionate about art and why?
I love being creative for as long as I can remember, but I definitely became more passionate about art when I discovered photography and 3D art.
